Not a home health agency, no institutional red tape
No homebound requirement, you don't have to be confined to your home to qualify for care
Mobile and flexible, we build the schedule and setting around your life, not the other way around
One consistent therapist, real continuity, not a rotating cast
Treated like a case number instead of a person
Rushed appointments with no time to actually be heard
Shuffled between therapists who never learn your full story
Long commutes to clinics when you're already struggling to move
Scheduling that bends to the system, never to you

Memory loss, dementia, changes in thinking, and challenges with planning or completing daily routines.
Difficulty with dressing, bathing, cooking, household tasks, or other activities needed for everyday independence.

Care built around you, not a standard treatment schedule.

Therapy comes to you — no clinic commute, waiting room, or homebound requirement.

We work on the things you actually need to do in your everyday life.

Occupational therapy can benefit individuals recovering from an injury, managing a chronic condition, or experiencing difficulties with daily activities. If you’re unsure whether occupational therapy is right for you, contact us for a consultation.
During your first visit, our therapist will conduct a comprehensive assessment to understand your needs and goals. This includes discussing your medical history, current challenges, and lifestyle. Based on this assessment, we will create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs.
It depends on the pathway. California's OT practice act ties standard, insurance-billed OT services to a referral following a physician's (or other qualified provider's) diagnosis. Some wellness- and prevention-oriented OT services can be accessed more directly. In practice, whether you need a referral usually comes down to your insurance plan's rules rather than state law alone, many private insurers and Medicare still require a physician's order for reimbursement even in situations where direct scheduling is otherwise possible. We'll confirm what your specific plan requires before your first visit.
Coverage varies significantly by plan. Traditional Medicare-covered "home health" OT has strict eligibility rules, the patient must be certified "homebound" by a physician, be under a physician's plan of care, and (for Medicare specifically) OT generally can't be the sole qualifying service to start home health care; skilled nursing, PT, or speech therapy has to open the case first, with OT continuing care afterward. Because Omega Therapy is not a Medicare-certified home health agency, we aren't bound by the homebound requirement, but that also means Medicare home health benefits don't apply to our visits the same way.
For Medicare home health purposes, "homebound" doesn't mean bedridden, it means leaving home requires help from another person or a mobility device, or is medically inadvisable, with only occasional exceptions (doctor visits, religious services, etc.) allowed. It's a specific eligibility gate for Medicare-certified home health agencies. Because we operate as a mobile private-practice model rather than a certified home health agency, this requirement simply doesn't apply to our clients, you don't need to prove you're confined to your home to receive care from us.
The number of sessions needed varies from person to person and depends on several factors, including the nature and severity of your condition, your overall health, and your treatment goals. During your initial consultation, our therapist will assess your condition and provide you with a personalized treatment plan. While some individuals experience relief after just a few sessions, others may require ongoing care for more chronic issues. Our goal is to provide you with the most efficient and effective care to help you achieve long-lasting results. Your progress will be continually monitored and adjusted as needed throughout your treatment plan.
Home health OT is delivered through a Medicare- or insurance-certified home health agency, with physician oversight, homebound certification, and program-specific eligibility rules. What we offer is outpatient-style occupational therapy delivered in a home (or other convenient) setting, without the homebound requirement or agency-level red tape. The clinical quality of care is the same standard of practice, the delivery model and eligibility rules are what differ.
In-home therapy allows you to receive professional occupational therapy services in your own home. Our therapists bring all necessary equipment and tailor the therapy sessions to your home environment, making it more convenient and relevant to your daily life.
Occupational therapy in California can serve clients across the lifespan, from pediatric development to older adults managing age-related or chronic conditions.
A typical process looks like:
(1) an initial call to talk through your goals and check insurance/payment details,
(2) an in-home evaluation with your therapist to assess needs and build a plan of care,
(3) ongoing sessions on a schedule that fits your life, with progress reviewed and the plan adjusted along the way.
In-home therapy offers numerous benefits, including convenience, personalized care, and a comfortable environment. It eliminates the need for travel, reduces stress, and allows the therapist to address specific challenges in your home setting.
We accept various insurance plans and can assist you in understanding your coverage and benefits. Please contact us with your insurance information, and we’ll help determine your eligibility and any out-of-pocket costs.
To prepare for your in-home therapy sessions, ensure you have a safe and clutter-free space where the therapist can work with you. Your therapist will provide any additional instructions based on your individual treatment plan.
Our licensed and experienced therapists adhere to the highest standards of care. We regularly update our practices based on the latest research and guidelines in occupational therapy. Additionally, we follow strict hygiene and safety protocols to protect our clients and staff.
